NYC

I just got back from the most amazing trip in NYC!! It was my first time to the big city and i absolutely loved it. Anyways... Mary French, one of our pi phi sorority sisters, was getting married in NYC so we decided to make it a girls trip. Michelle, Janet (Michelle's mom), Liz and I had been planning this trip for months and it finally came. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and got to stay at the Waldorf Astoria, pretty cool. That evening, Liz gave us a little tour. A few of the highlights where.... Mary and Adams unbelievable apartment, Dylan's candy bar, an amazing little restaurant (I can't remember the name, I'm so bad) and Times Square. Fun day but we were exhausted. My flight left from Austin at 600am. So we left Temple at 330am!!! It's amazing I lasted all day, I guess I was running on adrenaline. Thursday was great!! We went shopped in SoHo and ate at little Italy during the day and then we decided we would try to get tickets to see Wicked. Surprisingly, we got tickets after 30 min of standing in line and they were great seats. Who would have thought??!!! It was meant to be! We went back to the hotel to change and I guess we lollygagged around because the show was starting at 800 and we went down to catch a taxi at 730, in the rain!!! We were out of our minds and there was absolutely no way we could have made it so... we took a pedicab! Those things are a rush, if you think taxis are crazy, you just wait until you ride in a pedicab. Anyways, thank goodness for pedicabs because we arrived with time to spare. What an adventure. WICKED was incredible!!! I had high expectations going into it and I was not let down!! I would definitely see it again (maybe in Tulsa or San Antonio, Marsha wink wink). Friday we woke up and went to Broadway in the Park at Bryant park. They did songs from Lion King, Hairspray, Annie, LesMis, Legally Blonde, and more. After that we shopped, went sightseeing, and bought our ticket for Mary Poppins. We had a few hours to kill so we went to China town, that place is crazy but I love it, I think it's a love hate relationship. Shortly after we got down there, it started to rain so we were getting great deals. Time kind of got away from us and we realized that we did not have time to take our purchases back to the hotel, so... we bought those awful, big (big meaning you can fit 3 small children in them big) plastic NYC souvenir bags and hauled them to Mary Poppins and coat checked them. It was really funny and kind of embarrassing. Janet has a pic of it so I will have to get it from here and post it later. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite Disney movies so I loved the show. There were some impressive stunts too. Saturday was the wedding day, we just did some more touristy things that morning and then headed off to the wedding. The wedding was at a Christ Church United Methodist (beautiful church). The ceremony was short but very meaningful. After the ceremony we walked to Central Park Zoo, where the reception was being held. It was a perfect setting, not cheesy at all but very elegant. We had cocktail hour, a sit down dinner and dancing. We had such a great time and would say that it was one of the best weddings I have been to and Mary's dress was fabulous. Sunday, Michelle and Janet did the early morning 600am flight so I didn't get to see them. I had a fun day by myself. I had breakfast in Central Park, went to the cool Apple store, walked around the street market behind our hotel, and headed to LGA where I had a 2 and a half hour delay, but I finally made it back home to my Andy. I have to say that this was an amazing trip and I will definitely go back some day with my wonderful husband.

Weekend in Fredericksburg,TX

 We just had a weekend getaway to Fredericksburg, Tx with our friends Sam and Melissa. Fredericksburg is in the "hill country" that we had heard so much about. Every time we complained about how flat and ugly texas is, people would tell us to go to the "hill country". Now that we have been, we do believe that Texas does have some beauty but we still think Arkansas has them beat. Anyways, we stayed at a wonderful bed and breakfast called "A Place in Time" (cheesy name but really good food and rooms). Friday night we ate at a place called Hondo's, where we sat outside and listened to a live country band. It was really fun and relaxing. Saturday morning we climbed Enchanted Rock, fun but really hot. I definitely think we could have fried some eggs on that enchanted rock. That afternoon we went to the Becker winery where we toured and tasted.  One of my favorite things of the whole trip was our meal at August E's. It was incredible food, kind of fancy too. Sunday morning we went to the Wildflower Seed Farm. At the farm, they raise and sell beautiful plants. This obviously isn't the prime time to go due to the extreme heat and drought. I would love to go in the spring because they have fields and fields of flowers.  After the flowers, Melissa and I went shopping and the guys went to a World War II Museum. I would definitely say that we had a wonderful weekend in the hill country.
