So... I was sitting around today, doing nothing, and saw the breaking news about Ft Hood. I immediately started thinking about all of the people I know there and kind of started freaking out. While I'm talking to my best friend from Temple, my mom calls and tells me that Lauren is at the doctors office and they think she could have H1N1. Really?? I felt so useless. Here I am, utterly bored and doing nothing when I could be taking care of my sister or all of the wounded victims. Not a good feeling let me tell you. I then started trying to think more rational. Lauren has her amazing husband Justin (and Mom in a couple of hours) to take care of her. As for the victims, they have one of the most amazing trauma centers in the south, Scott and White. Of course I wanted to be there in the middle of all the chaos with my S&W family, but those nurses and doctors are some of the best ones I know. I am so proud of them. I heard from numerous people that "yes, it was chaos but we kicked butt today." I guess I said all of this to say, prayer is the only thing I can do. It should have been my first instinct to pray but my human nature took control and I wanted to "fix" things. Seriously? like I can fix things.

a picture I took on the way into work one day at S&W, I love and miss that place and all of my dear friends

Parker Wade Davis

On October 25, my sister Lauren had her first baby. Let me just say that she is my hero. Because Lauren had borderline hypertension, her doctor decided to induce her a few days before her due date. Lauren and Justin checked into the hospital on Sat night to start getting her body ready for induction. At 6am Sat, they started her Pitocin. And... she didn't start pushing until about 9:30pm. At 10:29pm on Sat Oct 25, Parker Wade Davis was born. He was 9lb 10oz and 21in. Ya, he was healthy. Lauren did great... and Justin :). She was calm, patient, and sweet all day. Even after all the trauma of a vaginal birth, she was up and walking around the next day and never complained about pain. It was so fun for me to be her "personal nurse". Precious little Parker is going to be my new obsession, so be ready for a lot of Parker posts :) I am a very proud aunt.

The nurse brought him to the hallway so we could see him while the doctor was taking care of Lauren.

Sarah and I did this while we were in the waiting room for 12+ hours. It helped pass time :)

Happy little family!
Too freaking cute!! I think he was smiling at me, he loves me.
Very proud Nana and Pops
Let's go home
Soaking up my last hour in Arkansas with Parker, don't worry Parker , I'll come back soon :) First chance I get. I'll bring uncle Andy with me next time so you can meet him. He's kind of crazy though, sometimes he gets confused and calls you Preston.

I love his toes, I call them "tingers" (long toes that look like fingers)
His cute bassinet( that he'll prob never sleep in, at least as long as Nana is there.)

Razorback game at "Jerry World" and my birthday cake

This was the most amazing cake ever!! Mint chocolate cake that tasted like thin mint girl scout cookies!!! Our friend Amanda made this out of her kitchen, she's not a "professional" but sure looks like it to me.

meet Hobbs

We finally decided that we were going to try the cat thing again. So... meet Hobbs. This isn't a great picture but we just got him today. More to come.

st augustine

We recently went to St. Augustine, Florida with Bob and Marsha. We had a blast! Bob's brother Ken built a beautiful sailboat and we got to take it out. We also got to see Bob's sister Jan and her kids. We couldn't have asked for a better more relaxing time.

The most beautiful rainbow that I have ever seen. It wasn't as bright by the time I decided to go take a picture, but it was still gorgeous.

Family pic (except for Uncle Vick, who took the picture)

VIVA LA VIDA

Today we get to go see COLDPLAY!!! What a great surprise. Yesterday, Andy and I were sitting around and decided we wanted to go to the concert. So, we searched craigslist and found a GREAT deal. I guess that is one of the perks of "city life". Stay tuned for pictures.
